<p>The Echo has been awarded a ‘Highly Commended’ in the Blue Mountains Gazette Innovation Award.<br />
Spa Sublime in Katoomba won the Beauty, Health &amp; Fitness category as well as the Customer Service and the Harry Hammon Golden Business Award for the best winning entry.<br />
Liberty Conveyancing from Katoomba won the Blue Mountains Gazette sponsored Innovation Award, with The Echo awarded a Highly Commended.<br />
The Integral Energy sponsored Community Contribution Award was won by Bygone Beautys of Leura with The Echo as a Finalist.<br />
Bygone Beautys also won The Tourism Business of the Year (and will now go on to the State awards) and the BlueMountainsAustralia.com People’s Choice Award.<br />
Bikeminded of Wentworth Falls won Highly Commended in the People’s Choice category. Century 21 Wentworth Falls won a Highly Commended in the Business Services award. The Employee of the Year was Maria Vergotis of Allure Hair Designs in Leura.<br />
Well done to all winning businesses.</p>

Mountains  starting with The Mountain Advertiser in the mid 1870’s, followed by another 42 individual papers since then, and that is not counting the publications produced mainly for visitors!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The Echo is a very traditional name for a newspaper but is especially appropriate for this area with<br />
Echo Point in Katoomba. The first Blue Mountains Echo circulated from 1909 to 1928. The second<br />
Blue Mountains Echo ran from1939 for a very short time and the third one was published from1981 until<br />
1989.</p>
