The Blue Mountains Heritage Dancers would like to invite you to dance.
In colonial times, dancing was a large part of socializing, and a special occasion was often celebrated with a ball. People danced the reels and jigs of home, and later combined them with ‘newer’ 19th century European dance imports like quadrilles, waltzes, polkas and mazurkas.
Blue Mountains Heritage Dancers are bringing back these traditions for 2009 – especially the tradition of socializing with dance! Every Wednesday night, at the Wentworth Falls School of Arts, you can dance traditional favourites such as the Barn dance, the Virginia Reel, the Valeta and  the Varsouvienna, Strip the Willow and the Pride of Erin , just to name a few.
Dances are walked through, called or demonstrated so that everyone can join in straight away. No partners are required, simply come along and meet people! All are welcome, young and old, and families and singles, beginners and old hands (or old feet!)
Weekly colonial dance sessions are on Wednesdays 7pm to 9pm at the Wentworth Falls School of the Arts, ( 217-219 Great Western Hwy) There is parking in Adele Ave. Cost is  $5  per person, or $10 per family. No alcohol.
